Panthers Outlast Chants, Win Second in a Row

Georgia State (4-2, 2-1 in Sun Belt) withstood a slow start on offense and a late surge to win their second consecutive game, beating the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 31-21 in Conway, South Carolina. Georgia State overcame an early 6-3 deficit, scoring the next 14 to take a 17-6 lead into the half. The rushing attack took over as the Panthers jumped out to a 31-13 lead late in the 3rd quarter. The Chanticleers added a touchdown and two-point conversion to make it 31-21, and drove down the field late in the 4th quarter- but the Panthers defense stopped the Coastal Carolina on  4th and inches to give Georgia State the ball back for good.

Dan Ellington rushed for 128 yards, and added 122 passing yards as well. Both Tra Barnett and Seth Paige added at least 100 yards of their own on the ground, as the Panthers as a team rushed for 350 yards on the afternoon. Georgia State returns home next week for the first of a two-game homestand, hosting the Black Knights of Army West Point. Kickoff at Georgia State Stadium goes at 7pm.
