Georgia State Announces Home-and-Home Football Series with Georgia Tech

Georgia State University Athletics has scheduled a home and home football series with Georgia Tech, as announced by both athletic departments on Wednesday.

The series will take place during the 2024 and 2026 seasons, with Georgia Tech set to host the first game at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024. The Yellow Jackets will then visit Georgia State Stadium on Sept. 19, 2026 to complete the series.

Georgia Tech will not be the first ACC school to visit Georgia State Stadium, as the Panthers are already set to host North Carolina in 2022. The Yellow Jackets will be the 4th ACC opponent in Georgia State’s football history, joining North Carolina State, Clemson and the Tar Heels.

Many fans from both schools have been calling for a tilt between the Panthers and the Yellow Jackets since Georgia State made the leap to FBS in 2013. While consistent opponents in other sports like baseball and softball, this will mark the first time the two schools will meet on the football field despite playing their games just 3.1 miles from one another.

Georgia State adds Georgia Tech to a strong list of future P5 out-of-conference opponents.

The future out-of-conference schedule for the Panthers is now as follows:

  • 2020: vs Murray State, @ Alabama, @ Charlotte, vs East Carolina
  • 2021: vs Army, @ North Carolina, vs Charlotte, @ Auburn
  • 2022: @ South Carolina, vs North Carolina, vs Charlotte, @ Army
  • 2023: @ Charlotte, @ LSU
  • 2024: vs Vanderbilt, @ Georgia Tech
  • 2025: vs Memphis, @ Vanderbilt
  • 2026: @ East Carolina, vs Georgia Tech
