Georgia State Honors Seniors, Beats Little Rock in Final Home Game

Georgia State secured their sixth straight home win with a 83-70 victory over Little Rock on Saturday, March 2. This was the final regular season home game for Jeff Thomas, Devin Mitchell, Jordan Tyson and Malik Benlevi – an occasion for which they all earned a start.

The Panthers started hot and kept their foot on the gas pedal. The team led by as much as 26 before pulling the seniors for one last home ovation. Kane Williams led the way for Georgia State with 17 points and 4 steals off the bench. Six Panther players finished in double figures, including seniors Jeff Thomas (14 points), Devin Mitchell (13 points) and Malik Benlevi (11 points).

GSU ratcheted up the defensive pressure, scoring 24 points off of 19 forced Little Rock turnovers. Coach Hunter lauded the team’s efforts on that side of the ball and spoke of how he thinks his team is peaking at the right time, saying, “We’re in March – and special things happen in this program in March. These guys have been waiting for March for a long time.”

Georgia State closes out their regular season next Saturday, March 9th in Statesboro against in-state rival Georgia Southern with the Sun Belt regular season title on the line.
