Panthers Fall to the Hoyas in the Nation's Capital
Georgia State (1-3) drops their third contest in a row, falling on the road to the Georgetown Hoyas (3-1) 91-83. The Panthers were never quite out of it late, but the Hoyas used clutch free throw shooting and out-rebounded the Panthers 39-33 on the game to keep the Panthers just out of reach.
With 3:59 remaining in the game, Mac McClung hit two free throws to push the Hoya lead to 10 points and they would never look back. McClung proved to be a problem all night for the Panthers, as he had a game-high 25 points – shooting a perfect 11 for 11 from the charity stripe. Omar Yurtseven added 15 points and added a team-high 13 rebounds for the Hoyas.
Corey Allen had a team-high 21 points on 8 of 17 shooting, tacking on three assists and two steals. Justin Roberts and Damon Wilson each added 15 points of their own. Josh Linder continued his excellent work off the bench, earning his second double-double of the young season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The Panthers are in action next on Friday, November 22 in Riverside, California, as they face the Prairie View A&M Panthers in the subregional of the 2K Sports Classic. Tipoff is at 8pm EST.
