The Georgia State Men’s Basketball team opened up their 2020 home campaign with a 105-60 win over Toccoa Falls College. The Panthers showed no signs of fatigue following their marathon quadruple overtime win over Georgia Tech on Wednesday when they quickly jumped out to a 17-0 lead and never looked back. This game marks the first time that Georgia State has scored 100 or more points in consecutive games since the 1991-92 season.
Justin Roberts led the way for the Panthers with 23 points on 9/10 shooting from the field to go along with 6 assists with no turnovers. Cincinnati transfer forward Eliel Nsoseme tacked on 18 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks in his home-debut as a Georgia State Panther. Senior guard Corey Allen was lights out from distance, finishing with 18 points on 6/9 from three as well as 5 assists of his own.
On Corey Allen and Justin Roberts’ ball handling and court vision, head coach Rob Lanier had this to say: “I am encouraged about the way they’re receiving coaching. I think our guys are committed to getting better and that’s going to be an ongoing process throughout the year. I think they have the right mentality about trying to address the areas of weakness and I think there’s been some evidence of that in these last two games.”
Georgia State is back in action on Monday, November 30th when they travel to Macon, GA to take on the Mercer Bears. Tip-off is set for 7:00 and the game can be found on ESPN+.
