Panthers Outlast Prairie View A&M 83-74 in the 2K Empire Classic
The Georgia State Panthers (2-3) used an 8-0 run to start the second half to beat the Prairie View A&M Panthers (1-5) 83-74 in the 2K Empire Classic. Prairie View never quite overcame the initial Georgia State run, and never trailed by less than 4 points in the second half. The GSU Panther offense was very balanced as 4 of their 5 starters scored at least 12 points and had 3 assists a piece.
Corey Allen lead the Panthers with 18 points. Kane Williams added 17 points, and 3 assists. Damon Wilson added 13 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Gerard Andrus had a game high 23 points for Prairie View. The PV Panthers never got things going from deep as they shot 30% from beyond the arc.
The Panthers play again tomorrow vs the winner of Cal Baptist and Central Arkansas. Tip off is TBD.
